High Five for Friday

TGIF and happy Friday!  I hope you’ve had an excellent week:)  Is it just me, or do the weeks keep getting shorter?!  It seems like they just fly by anymore.  Let’s recap:

1. I finished up my midterms! I am so glad to have that over with.  I kept having flashbacks to law school-ugh!*
*I wish I would have started writing this blog when I was in law school.  Oh, the posts that would have came out of that adventure.

2. Monday was Chauncey’s 29th birthday.  This is the 12th birthday I’ve spent with him (we were high school sweethearts).  On Sunday night, I got a baby sitter and told Chauncey it was so the 2 of us could do dinner along.  In reality, we met up with a group of friends at Drake’s, played trivia, and had an all around good time.

Collared shirt: Target–this is the sailboat top that was so popular this summer, $13.98 (no longer available).
Hello Sailor sweater: Bluetique Cheap Chic, approx. $10 (no longer available)
Necklace: Purple Peridot, $8.18 (currently $14.99)
Chauncey’s hoodie: Old Navy in Ink Blue, currently $16.99.

Then on Monday, Kane and I took Chauncey out to Old Chicago to eat. OC is one of our favorite restaurants, and if you’re a member of their World Beer Tour club, then you get a free pizza during your birthday month.

Look at that belly sticking out.lol  I promise his shirt fits, but he was twisting around so much it wouldn’t stay down.

3.  I cleaned out my closet this week.  I have alot of clothes but not a lot of closet space, so it takes some shuffling to make everything fit without overflowing.  And let’s be honest–sometimes, the overflow can’t be helped:)  I took out all of my summer clothes that don’t transition well into fall to make way for my winter clothes.  Now I just need to sort through my shoes. . . .  If you’re in the same position and need to clean out your closet, but don’t know where to start, I have some advice for you here.

4.  I’m loving that Homeland is back on!  We started watching the show when it first premiered, because it came on after Dexter, and we absolutely love it!  We also just started watching House of Cards and I’m hooked!  And to hop to a related subject, does anyone read the Rick Riodan YA novels?  The last Heroes of Olympus book just released, and I can’t wait to finish reading it!  It’s unusual for me to not finish a book in 1 or 2 sittings, but I just haven’t had the time yet.

5. And we have a winner from our blog giveaway–congrats to Ashley Payne!  Thank you to all of our readers who entered!  I had so much fun hosting this giveaway with Della Devoted and KT Cup of Tea blog.  They are truly awesome girls, and I hope you’ll hop on over and check out their blogs if you haven’t already!

How’s YOUR week been?  Find any good deals?  Got your hands on some of the Cake Batter Chapstick? Have something totally awesome happen? Let me know in the comments below!

    yay for finishing midterms!
Our little one's belly is always sticking out and when it's not she's proudly showing us her belly button anyways 😉

    Hoooooray for midterms being over…woohoo!!!

So cool you were high school sweethearts, I love romantic stories!!! I cleaned out my closet in the early summer, but need too again. Time to do the clothing switch. Happy weekend.

    1) My son loves the cake batter chapstick – it was mine – but he stole it. He's 7 – this perplexes me

    2) I remember when my kid was that little and the shirts looked SO SMALL ON HIM – because he was a moving maniac monkey.

    3) Free pizza on your birthday month? Shut the front door.

Happy Birthday to your hubby! What a loved and pampered man lol. I need to get rid of a lot of clothing items myself. Rachel xo

Thanks, Brianne! After 9.5 years of post-secondary education, this is my very last semester of classes!

Yay is right!haha And how adorable! Kane doesn't like to show his belly button, but he likes to point mine out:)

You hit the nail on the head about midterms! Whenever people say that young love doesn't last, I'm always like, "Hold up!" And with the clothes situation, I did too, but my closet takes constant diligence because of the large volume in the small amount of space:)

    1. When I was little, I use to get yummy chapstick and eat it.lol I look back and think of how disgusting that was.
    2. That's a pretty accurate description of my child too. Every shirt is a belly shirt.
    3. Yep! It's so awesome:)

  13. 10.18.14

Thanks, Rachel! He had a good time. And I HATE parting with clothes, but I know I need to do it every so often.

  14. 10.18.14

Thanks, friend, and congrats on finishing your 1st class!

  15. 10.18.14

Thanks, Katie! Listen, we always get into watching some series of shows, but we try to keep it to 1 at a time. When we finished Season 2 of OITKB, I told Chauncey we needed to start on HoC, but he resisted. I was also a little apprehensive because I'm not a huge fan of political/legal shows (weird with my profession, I know). Anyways, we're on the right track now!

  16. 10.18.14

Thanks, Chrissy! I've always found it to be an overwhelming task, so I thought a checklist would help others:)

K I read this on Friday, I SWEAR I commented haha. I need to clean my closets out, like badly. There are terrible. (I have two because they are tiny and there's no way Jay and I could share.) It's so hard with my little helper!

That's so awesome that you guys have gotten to spend 12 birthdays together! Such a sweet thing to get to tell Kane someday 🙂

  19. 10.21.14

Congrats on finishing your midterms! I am in the process of cleaning out my closet for the second time in 2 months. I hate getting rid of things so it takes me several tries!

Love your linkup, Jennie! And thanks–we had a great time!

I have 2 as well! It's a long story, but for a year, basically while I was pregnant, we maintained 2 townhouses in 2 different cities. My other townhouse had the MOST amazing closet for a townhouse, and I miss it terribly!

  22. 10.27.14

Thanks, Jill! I had the closet cleanout, but my closet is looking pretty good right now! I have such a hard time parting with my things.lol
