1st PROCLAMATION: I am a basic tee kinda girl. Seriously. A basic tee is the most versatile piece of clothing you can own. Did I emphasize that enough? You can dress them up or dress them down. You can wear them with some jorts*, dress them up with a frilly skirt, or date night it with some cute jeans. The possibilities are endless. *NOTE: Jorts are jean shorts. Once considered highly unfashionable, they’re back in style, and the more ripped, the better. My dad would disagree that they were ever out of fashion. Jorts is also the nickname of a former UK Wildcat. GO CATS!
I love this tee because of the embroidered pineapples on the pocket. I’ve had it since last summer and it’s going to be on heavy rotation once again. When looking to expand your basic tee collection, always look for some fun details (like the pineapples) to make the look more intentional. I popped it on over these destroyed boyfriend jean shorts from Target. The denim of these shorts is excellent quality, especially for the price. These are the shorter length, but they also come in the 5″ variety as well.
When I wear a basic tee, I like to think of it as a blank canvas to dress up. Here, I paired it with a tassel necklace (spot on for summer!), a straw clutch, and glitter sandals. I also like pairing sparkly statement pieces with basic tees to draw the focus to the accessories.
