June Ipsy Glam Bag Review

love mail days.  I especially love mail days when there is a little pink package in my mailbox signaling that my latest Ipsy bag has arrived!  Heck, even my mom has jumped on the Ipsy bandwagon at this point.  I’m hoping we’ll be able to do some sample swapping sometimes:)

The theme for June’s bag was “Swim into Beauty.”  The bag is made out of neoprene (or similar material) and will great great to toss into your tote for a day at the pool or at the beach.  Part of why I love Ipsy so much is how usuable the glam bags actually are!

Here’s what was in my glam bag this month:

1. BEFINE Cucumber Facial Mask
Truth be told, I’m not much of a face mask type of girl.  I tried this out in the shower, but didn’t see any noticeable improvements to my skin after 1 use.  I may continue to use it, or it may lay around in a drawer forever.

2. NUXE Gentle Exfoliating Gel
As much as I’m not a face mask fan, I love a good exfoliator.  I have a lot of issues with dry skin, which is terrible for a makeup base.  This exfoliator is different because it uses rose petals in its formula as the exfoliant.  It was much less gritty than what I’m used to, which made me feel like it was more gentle on my skin while still getting the job done.

3. J. CAT BEAUTY Lipitude Hydrating Lip Stain
Shade: Blow Your Mind
Lip stains also fall into my disfavored category.  I hate them because they really tend to dry out my lips, which feels terrible.  This one intrigued me since it claimed to be “hydrating.”  When I tried it out, I was pleasantly surprised that it actually did what it claimed to do.  The color payoff was good, but I also had some slight issues with color transfer.

4. TRE’STIQUE Mini Shadow Crayon
Shade: Marimoto Pink Pearl
First, how adorable is this product since it looks like an actual crayon???  I’m a sucker for little items like this.  It’s the perfect size if you like to take your makeup with you when you’re on the go.  This shade is perfect to give your lids/crease some color when you’re going for a quick and easy makeup look.  I’d love to try out the other shades in this product!

5. SMASHBOX COSMETICS Photo Finish Foundation Primer
MAKEUP BAG STAPLE ALERT!  I already use this product daily.  This primer feels so good when you put it on your face.  It’s so smooth and makes my foundation last throughout the day.  If you’ve been searching for a good primer, then you should really check this one out!  I’m glad I now have a tiny size of it to stick in my bag when I travel!

Overall, I’m chalking this month’s bag up as a winner, although I’m disappointed that I haven’t received the little Too Faced Melted lipstick sample.  Come on, Ipsy, help a subscriber out;)

For those of you who are on the fence about subscribing to Ipsy over Birchbox, you can read a little bit about why I chose to switch here.  I think Ipsy is better if you love makeup, while Birchbox is better if you like a mix of products (hair, beauty, etc.).
