Must-Have Skirt for Summer: Neon Lace

Navy, neon, and neutrals go perfectly together.  You know I love bright colors, but I’ve really been incorporating more navy into my wardrobe the season.  Navy is such a great alternative to black for the warmer month.  Toss all of that together and you get a great result!

Now let’s talk about the centerpiece of this outfit–the skirt.  When I ran out to JCP recently, this skirt caught my caught my eye and I had to have it!  It is the perfect skirt for summer–bright neon color, lace, and great length.  You can really dress it up, or you can give it a more casual vibe with a tee, like I did here.  It can go anywhere from the office to a wedding.  If you’re just going to invest in just one new skirt this summer, then this is it!  I was able to snag it for cheap–it was a doorbuster for $19.99 and I had a $15 off coupon (never shop JCP without a coupon).

The wedges I’m wearing are so on trend for summer.  These were a bargain at Target and pick up the style points of more expensive versions with their neutral tone and simple straps.  The wedges also pair great with my pom-pom clutch. I see the clutch and wedges working together with a lot of different outfits. For jewelry, my necklace picks up the color of the skirt without being perfectly matchy, and the bracelet adds a little bling while breaking from the color-blocking.

I’m also in love with these sunglasses!  Last year I was all about black sunglasses in different shapes. This year, I’m really liking oversized shades with unexpected colors.  I picked this pair up at Urban Outfitters on date night and I’m really pleased with them.  They’re a great shape for my face and a fun addition to my outfits.

Please excuse my hair. It was super windy when we were shooting, so my hair ended up all over the place.  In case you’re wondering, that’s three-day curls.  You can read more about my hair routine here and here.  Also, the sky kept going from overcast to sunny (lots of clouds with sunshine in-between), which accounts for the color variations on the skirt.  The first couple of photos nail the color of the skirt in real life.
What’s your one must-have piece for summer?
