Crochet Lace Dress for Special Occasions

Last Monday was mine and Chauncey’s seven year wedding anniversary.  Before we left on our trip, I was looking for something special to wear when I came across this dress at Versona.  I knew it would be perfect for our anniversary dinner in Charleston.

The first thing that caught my eye about the dress was the color.  The pastel periwinkle shade is gorgeous! Then, when I strolled over to look at the dress, the actual design was stunning! The crochet lace overlay is stunning, and gives the dress a very detailed hemline. The underskirt stops at the knee, giving the midi length a peek-a-boo effect. The best part is the dress is only $60!

For accessories, I started with my iridescent jewelry from J. Crew Factory. I already had the earrings but picked up the necklace the night before specifically to wear with this dress. I also tossed on an iridescent cuff bracelet.  Cuff bracelets are some of my favorite to wear because they fit my wrist better. It was a little harder for me to pick a handbag to go with this outfit, but I settled on this Lilly Pulitzer lobster clutch.  I love the color contrast between the bold red and pastel blue, so it turned out to be a great statement piece!

The shoes were a DSW clearance find that I chose for their nude color and glam bow, but let me tell you–these are probably the most comfortable pair of heels I’ve ever owned! I know that I’ll get lots of use out of them too.

These pictures were taken during our stroll along the Battery and White Point Gardens.  The Battery is home to some of my favorite houses in Charleston, including my absolute fav, the pink one above! I think it’s a must see for anyone going to Charleston. Afterwards, we had dinner at Poogan’s Porch, followed by The Bar at Husk.  I was disappointed in Poogan’s this time–I always order off the kid’s menu, but not this trip.  The waitress was very combative about it, my food came out wrong with an allergen on the plate, etc. All I wanted was some chicken tenders and mashed potatoes.  The chicken tenders are not on the regular menu. I ended up getting them, but I had to take a large portion. The waitress said the place was under new management–well, you could tell.  We finished the night with ice cream at Jeni’s.  If you haven’t had the Savannah Buttermint, you need it!

Despite the dinner debacle, Chauncey and I still had a fun anniversary celebration:)
