First, exfoliate your lips to get rid of any peeling skin and to smooth everything I out. Just gentle rub a sugar scrub over your lips and wipe clean with a wet wash cloth. I like to use Perfectly Posh Sugar Lib Scrub. It’s so gentle and taste amazing–I’m using the Bahama Berry products, which is a strawberry-orange flavor.
Next, use a lip liner to outline your lips. Sometimes I have issues with matte lip formula wanting to stray off my lips, and a liner keeps it in place. Here I’m using a clear lip liner. If you are using a color lip liner to match the lip color you’ll be using, pick a liner that’s just a shade or two deeper than your lip color. This will give you a defined lip without having a visible line that clashes with your lip product.
Then, apply a lip balm, not a gloss. A lip balm will help to moisturize your lips. I also find that using a lip balm helps to keep the product from transferring to my teeth. I love using the Perfectly Posh Caffeinated Lip Balm. I got in the same Bahama Berry flavor as my lip scrub, and it’s great! It’s also only $4!!! I do this step after applying lip liner because the liner doesn’t stay well otherwise.
Finally, apply your favorite matte lipstick. I’m wearing Tarte Rainforest of the Sea Drench Lip Splash Lipstick in Beach Bum, which is a dark nude. It is such a perfect shade for transitioning to fall!
I had never tried the Perfectly Posh brand before Belinda talked me into it, but now I love their products! They smell good, are easy to use, and they’re very affordable! You can check out all of the Perfectly Posh offerings here.
