Ultimate Time-Saving Tip for Holiday Prep

I absolutely love the holidays! Do you know what I don’t love? Grocery shopping!  Grocery shopping is tedious during any time of the year, but it’s especially tedious around the holidays.  It seems like I’m always extra short on time during this season. I feel like I have a million things to do, and wasting time shopping for groceries is low on my list. So when I found out about Walmart’s new grocery pick-up service, I immediately knew I had to try it.

So how does the grocery pick-up service work?  First, you sign in online (or you can create an account if you don’t have a Walmart account already).  Once you’re logged on, select a time for pickup for the next day or later.  Then, just type the groceries you’re looking for into the search bar and add the items to your cart!  It’s soooo easy!!! I needed groceries for Thanksgiving next week, and was able to order everything online.

When you arrive at the store, there will be orange signs saying “Pickup” that directs you to the pickup location.  At the Hamburg store in Lexington, it’s on the left side of the store.  You pull into one of the reserved parking spots and call the number on the sign.  My store then requested that I pull up to the side door.

While it just took a few minutes for the employee to bring out my grocery order, I was able to sit in my car and catchup on emails.  I didn’t have to try to navigate a squeaky buggy down the aisles, I didn’t have to search high and low for the items I was looking for, and I didn’t have to fight with Kane over whether or not I was going to buy any toys.  So relaxing!

The employee wheeled out my groceries AND loaded them into my car. I didn’t even have to get out of my vehicle (but I did to take pictures of the process)!  Imagine how great that will be on days with inclement weather this winter! Plus, you don’t even have to lift the heavy/awkward items. Win-win!

I also like that they pick the freshest items, which is what I do myself when I’m shopping. Plus, if they don’t have what you’ve ordered, they will actually do a substitute item.  If that happens, they let you know there’s been a substitution, and you can accept it or reject it. And if you have bread or eggs, they personally hand those to you so they don’t get squished.

Overall, I spent about 10 minutes ordering groceries and 10 minutes for pickup. Frankly, I don’t know that the 10 minutes I spent ordering groceries don’t even count, as I was free to watch TV while I was ordering. There’s also no additional fee for using this service, which is awesome! Walmart Grocery Pickup was truly so quick and easy!!!

Walmart Grocery Pickup is the ultimate time-saver for holiday prep!  I easily saved an hour by using this service, and an hour of my time is very valuable to me.  You can quickly order what you need to make Thanksgiving dinner online, saving you more time to spend with your family and friends this holiday season!  As a busy working mom, though, I know I’ll be using this service for more than just the holidays!
