Hillenmeyer Christmas Shop: A Magical Christmas Tradition

This past weekend, our little family really got into the the Christmas spirit.  We set up our Christmas tree and went out to Hillenmeyer Christmas Shop, one of our favorite Christmas traditions. Hillenmeyer Christmas Shop is in a nondescript little building that sits in a parking lot.  And that, I think, it what makes Hillenmeyer so magical.

My Sweater (full outfit post coming tomorrow!): Dillard’s (similarsimilar) // Plaid top: Old Navy (similar–$13, similar) // Necklace: Groopdealz (similar–with earrings) // Chauncey’s Shirt: Express // Kane’s Shirt: Walmart
Hillenmeyer is such an enchanting little place that is much larger than it seems from the outside.  It smells like Christmas morning as soon as you step in the door.  They have a large selection of trees, wreaths, and other festive greenery that you can purchase.  There’s also a roaring fire just inside the door, where you can actually roast marshmallows!
We like to talk a walk through the Christmas trees.  It makes for a great photo opportunity.  This makes the second year in a row that we’ve taken our Christmas pictures here. Everything is so perfect and Instagram-able. Kane really likes to look at all the greenery and hold it in his hands. You honestly feel like you are anywhere but Lexington, Kentucky. . .more like you’re at the North Pole:)
Then there’s the live nativity scene, with animals that the kids can pet.  The line for Santa wraps around here, so it’s a great way to keep kids distracted.  I love that Hillenmeyer incorporates the true meaning of Christmas into their shop!
And Santa. . . Santa at Hillenmeyer is absolutely amazing for several reasons.  First, he takes his time with each child.  He didn’t rush anyone in line before us. Second, Santa makes sure he listens to them and makes them feel important.  Finally, and most importantly, even if your kid hates Santa, you can still get some amazing pictures (see here). Santa will pop around your shoulder while you’re holding your kid, and it looks awesome!  I should also mention that there is no charge for pictures with Santa. You bring your own camera and snap your own pictures.
If you live in central Kentucky, especially in the Lexington, Kentucky area, you need to make sure to stop by Hillenmeyer Christmas Shop for an enchanting Christmas experience!  You will make some sweet Christmas memories that your family will remember for years to come:)
