Jewel Collar Dress in Historic Charleston, SC

Last week, Chauncey, Kane, and I visited historic Charleston, SC, and I got the chance to wear this beautiful jewel collar dress from Dixieland Boutique. I’m a big history buff, and I love wandering around the historic areas of Charleston. There’s sooo much to take in. Unfortunately, there was also sooo much rain. We shot these pics in-between downpours. I actually curled my hair before this, but it was a hot mess, so I tossed it up in a messy bun.

I’m always on the hunt for clothing with fun details, and this dress definitely fits the bill. The jewel collar of the dress really draws your eye to the high neckline.  I’m wary of beading on clothing, though, because it doesn’t always wash well, but this dress does!!! Chauncey ran it through the washing machine before I had a chance to say no, and it was ok–not a bead was missing.  I will say I think the sizing runs a little small, so size up. And the pattern is a dreamy mosaic pattern that is perfect for a warm weather vacation. Plus, at just $32, it’s a steal!!! That’s one of the things I like best about Dixieland Boutique–their clothes are cute and so affordable!

While the beading on the dress is silver, I wanted to warm the dress up with some gold accents. Since there’s ton of beading on the neckline, I skipped a necklace and added gold statement earrings in a nautical design.  I also added gold bracelets for a simple arm party, along with my new Daniel Wellington Classic Petite Leather Bondi watch with silver accents to keep the mixed metal look.

Y’all know I’m all about mixing price points.  I tend to invest in shoes and purses.  For example,  these Tory Burch Miller Sandals are expensive, but totally worth the price because I wear them everywhere and almost everyday! They also allow you to dress up a look without sacrificing comfort. I was able to snag  mine slightly used on Ebay for over 50% off retail price! And my Gigi New York clutch is a great neutral shade that I always grab when I need a bag that will go with whatever I’m wearing.

Be sure to check out the awesome selection of super affordable styles from Dixieland Boutique!!! Their styles are perfect for your upcoming summer vacation!!!

How gorgeous! That’s such a shame there was so much rain when you were in charleston.

Such a pretty dress and there is NO way that I could “just throw it up in a messy bun” I’m always so jealous of people that can do that. Hair turned out great even for not being what you intended.

Your so right! I’m all about living within a budget, but buying an expenive piece you will use over and over is totally worth the money. Your hair looks amazing in a messy bun! Wish I had those skills 😉 Thank you for linking up with Weekend Wear
