I was asked to participate in the #HallmarkAtWalgreens campaign, sponsored by Walgreens. Although I have been compensated, all opinions are my own.
Birthdays are special events in our house, whether they’re our own or a friend’s. I think it’s important to buy a card to let people know how much you care, especially children. So of course, when Kane’s friend Peyton had his birthday last week, we made sure to stop by Walgreens to get Peyton a special card!
Walgreens carries Hallmark Signature cards. We browsed cards from all this summer’s biggest kids movies, including Cars 3. While there were a ton of children’s cards to choose from, we settled on this Cars 3 card that allows you to build your own 3-D car–how cool is that?! At Kane’s age, kids like cards that go above and beyond, and this card from Hallmark definitely fit the bill.
There were quite a few cards that had other extras, like flashing lights, wristbands that played music, and musical cards. I always look for “extra” cards for kids. When Kane turned 4 years old last month, I bought him a musical Finding Dory card from Walgreens and he was obsessed!
Add stickers to kids’ birthday cards
With kids’ cards, I like to add a personal touch with some stickers. Walgreens just happened to have these Hallmark stickers that matched the card we picked out.
Write a special message inside kids’ birthday cards
Kane was so excited to help me with Peyton’s Cars 3 birthday card! We started by writing Peyton a special message inside his card. It said, “Happy Birthday, Peyton! So glad we’re friends!” I also helped Kane write his name and Peyton’s name inside the card. I have always written an extra special message in addition to the one printed in the card, and I’m teaching Kane to do the same to let our friends know just how much we care. It’s important to me for Kane to find joy in giving gifts and not just in receiving them.
Pour some confetti into the card for a fun surprise!
For a fun surprise, we added confetti inside the card that would fall out when it opened! It’s a great addition to help the kids feel more special. Then, Kane added stickers on the outside of the card to decorate it. You can always decorate with one sheet of stickers and just pop the second sheet inside the card for the kid to have later.
Finally, the card was ready to go inside the bag. While I was at Walgreens, I also picked up a Hallmark brand bag and tissue paper. The bag is awesome because it has a pocket for the card on the inside of the bag!
Peyton loved his card!!! There’s nothing like bringing joy to a child, and cards are such an easy way to show just how much you care.
The next time you need a birthday card for a child, be sure to stop by Walgreens! And you can get more ideas for making your kids’ birthdays brighter by browsing #HallmarkAtWalgreens on social media!
