Show of hands–how many of you make New Year’s resolutions and never keep them? Yea, me too.haha I think that sometimes we make New Year’s resolutions that are doomed to fail from the start.  So instead of making your typical New Year’ Resolutions that will be may or may not make it until the end of January, here’s five New Year’s resolutions you SHOULD make this year.

Sweatshirt–$19 // Pants–$30 // Maternity belly band // Heels // Earrings–$11.20 for giftset Handbag (mini version under $65 w/ code EXTRATREAT)

My rose gold ankle pants are actually coated pixie pants from Old Navy. Coated pants are the latest trend in pants right now.  These pants are rose gold metallic, and they shimmer and shine. They look so pretty with the cream sweatshirt and black accessories. To make them work for maternity wear, I just added a  belly band. If you’re unfamiliar with what a belly band is, it’s a stretchy band of fabric that stretches over the top part of your pants to hold them up when they won’t zip.

To finish off the dressier feel of this New Year’s Eve outfit, I added black heels and earrings, along with my new glitter Kate Spade bag. I LOVE THIS BAG! My mom got it for me for Christmas (I picked it out). If you live near an outlet, check there–the bag is still $379 on the website, but it was just $120 at the outlet. It also has a strap to double as a crossbody.

Now on to three New Year’s resolutions you SHOULD make this year.

#1 NEW YEAR’S RESOLUTION TO MAKE THIS YEAR: Be More Engaged

Ok, this one is a biggie for me. It’s no secret that I’m always on the go, and I’m always plugged in.  It’s not unusual for me to be responding to emails when we’re having family time, or posting to social while we’re at dinner. This year, however, I’m making a concerted effort to be more engaged with my family. That means I’m going to try my best to put my phone down while we’re at dinner and when we’re having family time.

#2 NEW YEAR’S RESOLUTION TO MAKE THIS YEAR: Cut Back on Procrastinating

Y’all, I procrastinate about everything. But with a new baby on the way, I want to get it together for once.  Therefore, my second New Year’s Resolution is to cut back on procrastinating. I mean, let’s be real–I’m not going to completely stop procrastinating. Procrastinating is part of who I am.  But I can aim to cut back on procrastinating. While I will probably continue to procrastinate on the small things, I need to give myself more time to accomplish bigger projects.

#3 NEW YEAR’S RESOLUTION TO MAKE THIS YEAR: Say Yes to Things Outside of Your Comfort Zone

It’s difficult to step outside your comfort zone.  It’s scary to take risks and try new things. My third New Year’s Resolution is to say yes to something outside of my comfort zone. Sometimes you have to say yes to something scary, or something intimidating, to see movement in your life. If you don’t step outside of your comfort zone zone, though, you’ll never grow as a person or reach your full potential. I’m not saying to do something crazy–I’m just encouraging you to look at opportunities in a new light and think about saying yes to something  that you’d otherwise say no.

I’d love it if you’d share YOUR New Year’s resolutions with me in the comments!
