Big NYX Makeup Haul + Review

NYX Makeup Haul and review

This post contains gifted items + affiliate links.

NYX is one of my all-time favorite makeup brands! It’s a drugstore brand and super cheap, but is just as a good as a prestige brand. I especially like to pick up items from NYX when I’m looking to try new trends, or need a new product in a fun color. While you can pick up NYX at drugstores, Walmart, Target, etc., my favorite place to purchase NYX from is Ulta because you they usually run a sale on NYX that can be combined with their store couponYou can also get a free gift with purchase now through April 21 with any $20 NYX purchase while supplies last that has 3 full-sized items!

So I was PUMPED to receive a big box of goodies in the mail from NYX!  Some I had tried before, and some I hadn’t.  I thought it would be fun to do a haul + review posts with the products. Everything is under $20, and most items are under $10!

? Honey Dew Me Up Skin Serum & Primer–I was intrigued when I saw this primer in the box because of the gold flecks in it.  It is a gel primer that is infused with gold, honey, and collagen. While my makeup stays on good with this product on, I hate the application.  The applicator is a little spatula, and it just doesn’t work well for me with this product because the product is a little tacky in texture. If you try it, skip the applicator and use your hands to apply.

?? Lip Lingerie Liquid Lipstick–I’m so picky when it comes to lip products. If it’s not a long-wear formula, then it doesn’t go on my lips.  While this lipstick doesn’t last all day, it does last for quite awhile.  All of the Lip Lingerie colors are matte nudes, but the formula isn’t noticeably drying. I didn’t have to use a lip liner with this one as it doesn’t tend to bleed.

? NYX Liquid Suede Cream Lipstick in Kitten Heels–This is another matte liquid lipstick formula, but this range comes in brighter colors. The shade Kitten Heels is an awesome red to add to your collection.  I find this color to bleed a little, so wear a lipliner with it. I think this one is a little more drying than the Lip Lingerie line, so you may want to apply a lip balm underneath.

?? Love You So Mochi Electric Pastels Eyeshadow Palette–This is one of my favorite products that was in the box! The pastel shades in this palette are very much spring eyeshadow shades.  After the past several years being focused on neutral brown palettes, it’s refreshing to see these fun pops of color.  These shadows are pigmented but not overwhelming. One thing I did notice, however, is that the shadows seem soft, so be careful about how much force you apply when you’re getting it out of the pan.

?? Smokey & Highlight Ultimate Shadow Palette–The best way to describe this palette may be as an “amped up” neutrals palette. It’s a surprisingly versatile neutrals palette that you can use every day by itself, or use in conjunction with other palettes to fill gaps in color.  The pigmentation is really good. I’d probably reach for this palette more in fall and winter.

?? Ultimate Multi-Finish Shadow Palette in Electric–This is so gimmicky. You can 4 shades of eyeshadow in different finishes. While I really like the blue and pink shade, I don’t need 3 finishes for every shade.  I would pass on this.

?? Wonder Stick–At first, I was skeptical of this cream highlighting and contouring stick.  I tried it in the shade Universal, and it actually worked well! I was surprised at how great the product blended out once it was on my face.  Just use a damp beauty blender for blending. The highlight side has a pretty seen, and the contour side looks natural.

?? #GlitterGoals Kit–This kit comes with 3 colors of glitter (you can purchase colors separately here) and a mini of their Glitter Primer. Their glitter WILL NOT STAY unless you use this glitter primer. I found that this combo stayed well together, and I’m excited to use this glitter primer under my other glitter eyeshadows! If you’re not using glitter on the daily, then definitely pickup some of the NYX shades as you can try the glitter eyeshadow trend without shelling out a ton of money for something you’ll only wear occasionally.

?? Total Control Drop Foundation–This product didn’t come in the box that was sent to me, but I thought I’d review it for you anyways since one of the top questions I see is what’s an affordable foundation to use. I really like this foundation!  It’s a matte finish and you can really build it to a full coverage foundation.  You can also use it to easily mix with other foundations to get a customized shade–buy this in a darker shade to add to your lighter foundation in the summer months, or vice versa. It will last for a long time when you add a primer underneath, but I wear a primer with ALL foundations.

?? HD Finishing Powder–Honestly, I’m not picky when it comes to a finishing powder.  That said, this one works and comes in a compact instead of being loose, which is a major plus in my book!

?? Micro Brow Pencil–This is a DUPE for Anastasia Brow Wiz Pencil!  I used the Anastasia pencil for years and this one is just as good!  The pencil itself is tiny so you can make precise strokes, and it has a spoolie on the other end so you can comb through your brow once you’re done.  I found the Brunette shade to lean a little more red than expected.  The Expresso was a better dark brown.

?? Suede Matte Lip Liner–This is a great product to pair with any of the matte lipsticks, but honestly, I prefer a matte lip liner no matter what finish of lipstick I’m using.  Matte liners seem to have more staying power.

?? Hi Definition Photo Concealer Wand–My ride-or-die concealer is the IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Undereye, so I was a little skeptical of this one. I as surprised (even though I shouldn’t be), but this one did fairly well in comparison.  I will use this one if I’m in a pinch under my eyes, and will probably use it for acne coverup as well.
