It’s officially September. As soon as September 1 rolls around, I’m ready to bring on fall. Fall candles burning, fall colors, and fall clothes. . .except Kentucky hasn’t gotten the memo and you may suffer a heatstroke if you try to wear fall clothes right now. So what’s a basic, fall loving girl to do when you can’t break out your leggings and boots? Here’s how to dress like fall when it’s too hot to dress for fall.
Tee: Target–on sale for $4.50 w/ code SAVE20 // Skirt: J. Crew Factory // Earrings: c/o Sugarfix // Shoes: c/o Bearpaw–use code BPAMBTF to get 20% off your entire purchase
The easiest way to dress like fall is to wear fall colors. Look for short-sleeves and skirts in colors like navy, cognac, olive, burgundy, and jewel tones. The trick is to pull off a fall color palette while still dressing in summer silhouettes.
I grabbed this tee on clearance from Target as it is such a great fall floral pattern. It also makes for the perfect pattern mix with this navy and white striped skirt. The pattern mixing works because of the same colors being in both the skirt and the top.
I love mixing things up when it comes to my outfits, so I knotted my tee instead of tucking it in, and added my new favorite tennis shoes. You may remember them from last week’s post about my pre-fall shoe selections.
If you look closely, you’ll see that my hair is a HOT MESS because it was 90 degrees when we shot these photos on Sunday evening. I’m sweating jut thinking about it.haha
Are you ready to transition your wardrobe to fall?
Such a fun look, friend! I love the navy print mix.
Love the pattern mixing!

I love how you put this look together! It’s adorable!
I might need to get that shirt! It’s definitely too hot for fall clothes here too.
That’s where I’m at too. Time for fall colors, but it’s still soooo hot.
