Autumn Sunset Eye Makeup Tutorial + High Five for Friday Linkup

This year I’ve been working on stepping out of my comfort zone, so here we are with a makeup tutorial. I used to do these more, but I had gotten to a point where I criticized myself too much when shooting them.  I’m jumping back in with this autumn sunset makeup look featuring the Smashbox Cover Shots Pinks + Palms Palette.  I actually wore this makeup for both outfit shoots this week.

Eye shadow palette // Eye primer (for glitter) // Eye shadow brush set // Eyeliner // Concealer duo stick // Under eye concealer // Mascara // False lashes c/o

I went ahead and done my foundation, eyebrows, and lips before jumping into putting on eyeshadow. I used this primer to prep my eyes. It’s so cheap but good! I use it any time I’m wearing something that has glitter in it.

Next, I took the coral-y shade (next to green shade) and used a small crease brush to apply it to my crease and down towards the outside corner of my bottom lashline.

Then, using a larger eyeshadow brush, I applied the coral-y pink glitter shade to my lid. You want to use more of a patting motion than a sweeping motion. It’s okay if you have some fallout, because you’ll clean that up later.

Finally, I used the light pink shimmer shade to blend the top of my eyeshadow using the larger eye shadow brush again. The goal is no harsh lines, which can happen if you’re not careful using good pigmented products.

I like to use concealer to highlight my brow bone and clean up underneath my brows. Here, I’m using this concealer stick. I blend it in with my fingers. I also use this concealer from It Cosmetics under my eyes and use it to clean up any fallout and messy lines.

To finish up, I use my favorite eyeliner from Stila, tracing along the shadow line in an upward stroke. I like a moderate cateye look. I also added some Red Aspen fake lashes, which I coat with mascara. While I don’t use false lashes every day, I love wearing them for photos! And this brand is comfortable enough to wear every day.

My lip color is Lipsense–two coats of Hazelnut topped by one coat of Mod Magenta. You can’t go wrong with a burgundy lip for fall. I’m having a Lipsense party that kicks off next week. You can join the event here, and I’ll even help you shop for makeup:)
