Snapshots: A Day at the Cincinnati Zoo + High Five for Friday Linkup

Last Sunday, we made a last minute afternoon trip up to the Cincinnati Zoo, so I thought it’d be fun to share our day via a new Snapshots installment. My Snapshots series is more real life/behind the scenes–not your typical blog pictures.

Right before we left, we found out it was HallZOOween, where you can trick or treat at the zoo and watch some cool animal interactions. It was too hot for Kane’s costume the day we went, but we took the trick-or-treat bucket with us so he could get some candy.

Kane really wanted to see the bats and lizards, while I really wanted to see the elephants and Fiona, the hippo. We somehow fit everything in that we wanted to do in just over 3 hours, including the train ride. The train is currently outfitted as the Hogwarts Express, and you might just happen to see some dementors lurking around when you ride it:)

Overall, I felt like the Cincinnati Zoo was a good size for the kids. I was a little sad that some of the animals were not out, but we saw plenty of other cool animals. It seemed like you could bring in your own drinks and snacks, which would’ve been a great idea had we known you could do that. We will probably go back again.

Afterwards, we ate at LaRosa’s Pizza on the way home. It was delicious! Chauncey and I were excited to try it since we’re getting one in Lexington.

If you’re planning a trip to the Cincinnati Zoo, there are some great ways to save! If you’re just going for one day, then you can currently save 20% off the price of tickets by purchasing on Groupon (Karoline didn’t need a ticket). Or if you plan on going multiple days over the course of a year, look into purchasing a membership from the Zoo itself.

NOW FOR THE LINKUP!

TGIF!!! Della at Della Devoted, Katie at Cup of Tea, Becky at BYBMG, and myself want to welcome you to the High Five for Friday link-up and the weekend. We made it!
