Happy Friday, friends! Is it just me, or is January 2021 going by much more quickly than all of 2020? To me, this month has symbolized hope for the future:) Anyways, of all the things to emerge out of 2020, I hope that workplace style continues its current progressive trend. It seems less inhibited and more free.  I’ve always stepped outside of the box when it comes to workwear looks, but I’m seeing it from others who are typically more traditional than me. With many conducting meetings online, oftentimes the top-half of your look may be all that is see, and I think it’s a great opportunity to have fun with your work outfits. So here’s a business casual look featuring Lilly Pulitzer for your workwear wardrobe.

Lilly Pulitzer Lambert top (similar, similar) // black ankle pants // Kendra Scott Davie hoops c/o // Kendra Scott Davie necklace c/o // Kendra Scott Medallion multi-strand necklace c/o // Tory Burch Minnie flats // tan Tory Burch Kira crossbody

It seems that I’m always seeing comments around the internet from Lilly fans that they don’t know how to incorporate Lilly Pulitzer into their work wardrobe. Maybe their office seems a little bit too stuffy for the bright Lilly prints, or maybe they’re just  unsure of how to style it in a professional setting. Today’s look makes it easy, and is a simple, go-to combination for wearing Lilly Pulitzer in business casual settings.

The golden rule here is to always wear black pants  and gold or nude shoes. I’ve never met a Lilly top that won’t go with black pants or that won’t go with gold or nude shoes. That not only keeps the rest of your look more toned down, but both pieces are wardrobe staples in professional settings and “ground” your outfit. Old Navy pixie pants are my #1 go-to for black work pants (also have them hit at your ankle), and Tory Burch Minnie flats are my favorite flats. Yes, the Tory Burch flats are a splurge, even on sale, but they’re a staple that you will get a lot of wear out of.

The Lilly top I’m wearing here is more subdued than a lot of Lilly tops, but it’s absolutely stunning in person. The thread in the  top is a rainbow metallic thread that really shines against the navy background. I grabbed it as part of the APS a few weeks ago, and got the dress in the same fabric as well. Don’t be afraid, however, to substitute in your brightest Lilly top. I promise that it will look just as good as the one I’m wearing with this combo.

Don’t be afraid to stand out–wear clothes that make you happy.
