I’m going to go out on a limb here and say that black leggings are one of the most worn wardrobe pieces (maybe ever). I remember when they first became popular when I was in law school that I would argue that leggings weren’t pants. . . I was wrong.haha Black leggings are so versatile, and you can wear them from the office to the gym to laying around the house. That’s what you call a workhorse! So I’m kicking off another installment of Wardrobe Re-Wear showing you how to dress black leggings up and how to dress black leggings down. First up is this casual tie-dye look featuring black leggings!

The #1 thing I look for in black leggings is a good, thick material. I don’t like cotton black leggings. I like leggings made out of a compression material, because they hold you in and are less likely to show unflattering lines. These black leggings are amazing, and I have 5 or 6 pairs of them. They’re basically part of my fall/winter/spring uniform, especially now that I work from home (not that working in the office ever stopped me before).
For a casual legging look this spring, add a pastel sweatshirt, like this pastel tie-dye sweatshirt. I’m all about pastels right now, and pastel sweatshirts are everywhere. Pastels have always been on my color palette for spring, but they’re so big this year! Adding pastels to your outfit is the fashion equivalent of a breathe of fresh air. I own multiple colors of the sweatshirt I have on–it fits oversized. I’m wearing a medium here.
I talked before about how I “lighten up” my shoes now that we’re transitioning to spring. These espadrille sneakers are a great option for doing just that! It’s a fresh take on the sneaker trend, and will easily pair with jeans or dresses. Pop on a tan bag to match and you’re good to go!
