Yesterday, I kicked off a revived series called Wardrobe Re-Wear, where I take one piece and show you multiple ways to wear it. In this case, it’s this black knit midi dress. Look 1 showcased a workwear look, while today’s outfit showcases how to wear a sweater over a dress.
SHOP THE LOOK:
chunky mockneck sweater (similar, similar) // black midi dress // Lele Sadoughi black headband (similar) // tan ankle boots // tan Tory Burch Kira crossbody // Kendra Scott Davie hoop earrings c/o
First of all, I want to point out that I’m not only re-wearing the black knit midi dress, but the same earrings and bag as well. I swapped out headbands and shoes, and threw on this chunky mockneck sweater in the most gorgeous shade of aqua for spring. Now, this sweater is at a higher price point than most tops I share because it’s Free People, but it’s worth every penny! The shade is a showstopper, and the sweater itself is very cozy. It’s a fairly chunky knit that you’ll reach for over and over again. While there’s a couple of ways to wear a sweater over a dress (you can also put on a belt and use it to do a front tuck with the sweater), I chose to just pop it on as-is. For a more defined waist, you could add a belt over the sweater to cinch in the look.
This look is also versatile. You could wear it out on a date night (or even an at-home date night), or take it to the office for a workwear look. The ankle booties make it appropriate for both. Not that we’re in the new year, you’ll see that I lean away from dark colored shoes because I’m ready to lighten things up a little bit. The black headband (which is super comfortable!) balances out the black dress so it’s not too harsh.
Come back tomorrow to see Look 3! It’s a very casual look that will take you into spring!
