Happy Monday, friends! Y’all, I’ve had this post drafted and sitting in my inbox for three and a half weeks now. For some reason, I just couldn’t hit publish. It’s like I had some weird writer’s block going on. Quite honestly, it seems like the world has shifted again in the past month with more things returning to normal, and I’ve just felt weird. After the last year and a half, the shift back to a more normal life has me feeling off-kilter. Just as it was weird going into the pandemic, it’s also weird as we start to emerge here in the U.S.

It’s very much a cautious return to normal for me. My family has been slowly reintegrating back into our old routines. We’re still taking certain precautions since our kids can’t be vaccinated. It’s been mentally exhausting figuring out how to navigate all the changes. Last March our lives turned upside-down. . . now they’re turning right side up, and our course it’s going to be strange. Cut yourself a little slack in your life right now, and show yourself a little grace.
While I’m still working from home 24/7, Chauncey has been back in the office since March. I know more and more of you are returning to work in-person (and some of you never stopped). So I wanted to kick off my first blog post in almost a month with a bright workwear look.
One thing I hope the pandemic has changed forever is what’s acceptable when it comes to workwear. I’ve always pushed the envelope when it comes to office wear– in a profession where a black suit used to be the most worn look, I’ve always favored bold, bright looks. Happy clothes make all the difference at the office, and we all could use more happy now:) Lilly Pulitzer is one of my favorite brands for this very reason. Lilly is the epitome of HAPPY clothes. I worked this entire outfit around my Lilly Pulitzer Colette Scallop Skort in the Cabana Cocktail print. While I wouldn’t wear a skirt this short to the office, I feel very comfortable wearing this length in a skort. In case you didn’t live through the 90’s, a skort is a skirt with shorts underneath. This skort, however, is a full wrap so you can’t tell there are shorts underneath.
I paired it with a white bodysuit and aqua blazer. Bodysuits are the new camis, for real. If you work in an office, be sure to add some bodysuits to your closet for an updated look. And while I can appreciate a sharp black blazer, colored blazers are where it is at right now.
For a fun pop, I added a neon pink knotted headband from Lele Sadoughi. If you work in an uptight office, ditch the headband with this look, because it’s going to be too much.haha And I polished the look off with a neutral bag and neutral heeled sandals.
It’s nice to be back to blogging after my unexpected break. I’m looking forward to diving back in, and have lots of fun stuff to share with you!
