Casually Dressy for Our Anniversary Date in Downtown Charleston, SC

Hi, friends! I just haven’t been able to get back into the habit of consistently blogging, but I’m working on it. If 2020 taught me nothing else, I learned to give myself a little more grace when it comes to these things. Thank you to all of y’all who continue to stick around and support me:) I have a whole backlog of photos that I’ve shot over the summer and I will be sharing those over the coming weeks. Even if hopping back into regular blogging is a 2 steps forward 1 step back situation, I’m going to keeping going until it clicks again. If you too are struggling with perseverance with something right now, here’s your reminder to not give up!

Anyways, Chauncey and I had the most romantic little trip down to Asheville (read about it here) and Folly Beach/Charleston, SC (updated guide coming soon) for our anniversary in June. It was truly a more go-with-the-flow trip that was planned last minute and meant to be more casual. I knew that for our anniversary I wanted to wear something dressy but casual for a relaxing night out on the town. Enter this cute dress from Shop XYZ Boutique.

faux halter patterned dress c/o // Kendra Scott Eileen earrings c/o // Gucci super mini // Kendra Scott friendship bracelet c/o // clear studded sandals – $15!

This dress is outside of my comfort-zone, and I don’t even know why. I think I typically shy away from this kind of necklace, but I’m honestly glad I tried it because I felt beautiful wearing it! The fabric was thin and breathable without wrinkling easily. The length was perfect. It gave the dress a more classy, chic feel. And the color was even more gorgeous in person. This is truly an effortless dress for an event or date night.

Now, while you could totally pair this dress with heels for a dressy-dressy look, I wasn’t interested in that for our anniversary date. I wanted a shoe that was easy to wear as we tend to walk around downtown Charleston in the evenings. Plus, the streets are old and somewhat uneven, which can catch an unsuspecting heel. Instead, I opted for my favorite sandal of the summer, my clear studded sandals from Target! I picked these up right before vacation because my white Tory Burch Miller sandals broke. To be honest, I wasn’t expecting much out of these sandals, but I’ve worn them 75% of the days since I bought them. They’re well-made for the price point and comfortable to walk in. I like how the structure of the sandal and the studs both dress up an otherwise casual shoe.

To finish this look, I popped in my Kendra Scott Eileen earrings, which have also been an obsession this summer. And I tossed on my Gucci super mini. Y’all, I thought I would regret dropping $$$ on this bag, but I regret nothing. It’s such a statement  piece and I use it all the time.

After shooting this look, we could get into where we wanted for our anniversary dinner. We opted to have drinks at Husk followed by dinner on the patio at our fav, Bohemian Bull. It was wonderful:)
