The New Fall Uniform: Dress with Sneakers

First thing’s first: do you call these shoes sneakers or tennis shoes? I grew up calling them tennis shoes, but tend to refer to them as sneakers sometimes now. They’re back in a big way this year, and they literally go with everything. The hottest way to wear sneakers right now, though, is definitely with a dress.

I love a good t-shirt dress, as they’re the ultimate no-think outfit. Toss one on and BOOM—done! You don’t have to think about coordinating. The one I’m wearing here is such a good fit. I’m wearing a small tall (so it fits big), but I have a medium regular and can’t tell much difference between the two. It’s casual yet still put together. And it looks super cute with sneakers.

Sneakers are the new flats to toss on with your dress! Here in Kentucky, the temps have been dropping some, so I’m starting to switch out my sandals for closed toed shoes. I hated tennis shoes for years, but I’m starting to get back into them. There are so many good options out there right now.  Personally, I’m a big fan of the pair I’m wearing here. They’re cheaper (under $30), and have that on-trend look to them with a star on the side and mixed materials with a Dalmatian pattern. Plus, these are relatively neutral. I adore the glitter shoelaces they came with, but you could also swap those for a neon pair for a more bold look.

My Kendra Scott beaded hoops compliment the colors in my dress. Since they make such a statement, I went with a gold smiley face necklace. It reminds me of my childhood. But the real star of the show is this plaid Tory Burch bucket bag. The shape is versatile, and so is how you can wear it. It’s reminiscent of one of my Dooney & Burke bags from college.

BTW, in case you missed it, Karoline had Covid and Kane was quarantined for 84 years because he didn’t test positive. It’s been a long couple of weeks in the Fannin house, but Kane was released from quarantine today. Perfect timing, because today is Chauncey’s birthday so we went out to celebrate.
